Letter from 1.7.2008

I cut and copied parts of three e-mails we received from Jeff yesterday, the letter he sent last week was accidentally deleted. He was transferred from English work back into Cambodian work last week.

Dear Fam,
...The power has been out for the last 5 days and we are still waiting... i was transfered to west sac with elder fassman. we have 2 active cambodians in the ward. anyways it was nice to see some of the members...

Mindi asked: Why has the power been out for 5 days, how do you get ready and eat and stuff?
Jeff replied: there was a huge storm that hit sacramento and it brought a lot of wind with it so the power went out. luckily it came back on earlier today. we ate dry foods and ate out. went to an awesome all you can eat sushi restarant that was really good, kari would kill. we have a gas hot water heater so we had hot water and heat

Mindi: There are really only 2 cambodians in the ward, so when you go to
church they are the only ones there? How does that work?
Jeff: Yes, we are in an english ward so we just translate for them. the ward also has two other english missionaries

Mindi: Have the cambodians been active for a long time, or did you baptize
them before?
Jeff: they are recent converts, before i got here. they are really cool too. i met them about 6 months ago though so i knew of them.

hello family,
i am at a members house, it is about 5:30 and i just wanted to write off a short note again. so back to west sac. it is good to be back, i am glad to see some of the members again except that a lot of the cambodians i was trying to reactivate are starting to slip again so it is hard right now. we only had 2 well i guess 3 at church last week. luckily i am back in a car so we will get
more accomplished. i don't have much to say about the work right now because i just got up here so nothing has really happened just yet. yeah so luckily when i got back from my appointment in stockton the power was turned back on so we were pretty excited except one of the elders because that meant that he had to start shaving again-haha. i also got some bug stuff to try to get rid of our ant problem, so i hope that it also gets better. we are now at a members and just got back from wal-mart. i bought a bunch of good stuff that i am excited to eatanyways i am doing ok. love you all and hope your all happy.
